North on 45

This weekend we packed up the minivan & headed to Grapevine to visit the Harris family.

Addison sleeps so much, that the 4 hr drive wasn’t so bad.

Our nieces and nephew were so excited to meet Addison.

Kaylee (6) held her like she’d been doing it for years while Tristan (4) couldn’t get enough of Addi’s toes. So cute! Kenlee (8mths) shared her toys, outfits & even her feet with Baby Addi.

We managed to snap some family photos before losing complete control.

While Ben entertained the kids, we got carried away playing dress up with Addison.

I know. I swore that I would never be that mom & here I am taking picture after picture.

Thank goodness for digital technology.

We also had breakfast with our friends, the Smallwoods and Cox’s. Cal & Sarah find out next month if they’re having a boy or a girl (yeah!) Here’s a picture of Rusty & Whitney’s family. Paxton & Mackey are so cute! Here are some great glamour shots.

Sugar & Spice and everything nice

To avoid the overpriced, over-commercialized chaos of Valentine’s Day, we always celebrate a night early. This year was no exception. We made good of Grammy & Grandpa’s offer to babysit lil’ Addi & enjoyed a full night out on the town. Okay, so it was 2 hrs at The Cheesecake Factory. Close enough.

After only 7 weeks, it actually felt odd to ask the hostess for a table for 2, like we had arrived empty handed. It’s funny how quickly you can adjust to parenting. Even though our world has changed in a million and one ways, somehow it feels as if this is how it’s supposed to be. Like our lives hadn’t begun until now.

As we finished both of our cheesecakes (that’s right. we split an appetizer & a meal for the sole purpose of getting 2 desserts), we realized that we had managed to carry on an hour-long conversation without discussing feeding times and dirty diapers. Like we hadn’t missed a beat. It was an official date and we loved it. The highlight of the night, however, was reclaiming little Addison from the grandparents! Happy Valentine’s Day!
